New Life Along the River Park: Play, Paths and Places to Explore

  16-Jan-2026 |   A Habeshaw

As part of the River Park Routes project, a new shared path running alongside the park has now been completed. This route is designed to support walking, wheeling, and cycling, making it easier for people to travel actively through the riverside setting.

Along this new shared path, natural play equipment and a trim trail have been installed, providing opportunities for children, families, and visitors of all ages to be active outdoors. These features have been thoughtfully designed using natural materials to complement the surrounding landscape and encourage play, movement, and wellbeing.

While the path itself is now in place, further enhancements are still to come. Seating, planting, and other “street furniture” are currently being installed by Fife Council, with work seems to progressing at pace and we're told completion is expected by the end of March. These finishing touches will help make the route more comfortable, welcoming, and enjoyable for everyone.

Within the River Park itself, new interpretive signage has been installed by Mackenzie Construction in partnership with the River Park team. These signs focus on the park’s paths, planting, and natural features, helping visitors understand and explore the space as it continues to take shape.

Construction of the 4km River Park is going well, led by Mackenzie Construction, with works expected to be completed by the spring. As the landscape develops and the final elements are put in place, the park is steadily emerging as a vibrant green space that supports nature, recreation, and community use.

Together, the River Park and River Park Routes projects represent a significant investment in active travel, outdoor play, and accessible green spaces. We look forward to welcoming everyone to enjoy the completed park and routes in the months ahead. We have many activities planned for the Spring and Summer including Outdoor Cinema showings and more.
