We are happy to announce that our 2022 River Leven Photography Competition is now open.
We’re asking you to send us your best photos of things along the River Leven and its surrounding areas that make you happy and bring you joy. This can be along any part of the River Leven in Fife, from its source at Loch Leven to sea at Leven.
Examples of subjects can include your favourite spot, a favourite view, a landmark, an activity you like to do along the river, people you like spending time with along the river, the nature, it’s up to you.
The photo(s) you submit can be one you have already taken or one you have taken especially for this competition.
Prizes
The best entries will be displayed as part of a photography exhibition. The venue is still being finalised but will be within the local area and will take place around the end of the year.
The overall winning entry will receive a £50 Fife Loves Local Gift Card.
How to enter
- Email your photo(s) to: theleven@sepa.org.uk
- Along with your photo, please include: your name, the location and subject matter of each photo. Please also include a few words on why the subject makes you happy.
- Photos can be sent as either a jpeg or png and can be either portrait or landscape.
- Images should be clear and a minimum of 300dpi, to allow for printing.
- The closing date for entries is 22 August 2022.
Judging process
- A shortlist of the best photographs will be selected by a panel of judges from the Leven Programme and associated partner organisations.
- The shortlisted entries will be uploaded to the Leven Programme’s Facebook account, where the overall winning entry will be selected by public vote.
Competition terms and conditions
By submitting an entry, you are accepting to the competition rules and the terms and conditions. Which are:
- The image must have been taken within the River Leven, Fife catchment.
- You can enter a maximum of three.
- The competition is free to take part and is open to anyone within the UK.
- Entrants under the age of 18 years need to have parental or guardian consent to enter. Parents/guardians agree to the competition rules, terms and conditions as set out herein on behalf of the entrant.
- Competition submissions must not include any endorsements of products or services, infringes on people’s reasonable expectations of privacy, or any obscene, violent, racist or defamatory content.
- All entries must be received by 5pm on 22 August 2022. No late submissions will be considered.
- The Leven Programme will contact the winners after the closing date and the winning photographs will be announced on the Leven Programme website and social media channels. The winners will be contacted via email.
- The prizes are non-negotiable, non-transferable, non-refundable and cannot be exchanged.
Copyright, liability and GDPR
By participating in this competition, you confirm that:
- The photograph(s) is your own original work and that you own the copyright and any other intellectual property rights of each image.
- They have the permission of anyone pictured in the image (or, where the image shows any persons under 18, the consent of their parent/guardian).
- The Leven Programme and its partners are granted non-exclusive, irrevocable licence to reproduce, enlarge, publish or exhibit, on any media, the photographs for any purpose directly connected with the competition.
- The Leven Programme maintains the rights to make minor edits to images for the purposes of sharing on social media and any size constraints that might apply.
- Organisers can sub-licence photographs to the media for reproduction in connection with the competition and exhibition only.
- The Leven Programme will make every reasonable effort to ensure that name credits are given to any photographs published in any medium.
- The winners’ photographs will be used freely by The Leven Programme for promotion purposes.
- In the processing of the competition, we will collect your name and email address, and the winner's address will be collected to distribute the prize. After the competition has closed and prizes awarded, we will delete email and address details, but will retain the names of photographers to ensure credit is attributed to photos if used for future use by The Leven Programme or its partners.
