We’re delighted to announce that River Park will feature on BBC Countryfile this Sunday, 17th May. This will bring a welcome spotlight to the incredible work taking place along the River Leven and the positive impact the River Park Programme is having across the local community.
Earlier this month, the BBC production team spent time filming across the park and surrounding area, capturing the wide range of activity taking place. They met with members of the River Park team, including our Project Manager, Helen McCafferty, Landscape Architecture Lead, Joanne Glennie, archaeologists Paul Murtagh and Madison Reavies and participants involved in the Heritage Employability Course.
Filming focused not only on the physical transformation of the park, but also on the people helping to shape the future of the area. Presenter Anita Rani got fully involved in some hands-on activities with our team, including helping to construct the new boardwalk and taking part in an archaeological dig. We hope this will give viewers a closer look at the practical work and heritage discoveries happening within the park.
The BBC team heard how the River Park Programme is supporting local people through training, employability opportunities, heritage and storytelling, as well as the environmental improvements. Participants from the Heritage Employability Course had the opportunity to speak about their experiences and the skills they’ve developed through taking part in the first heritage course.
As well as filming within the park itself, the production team also visited Loch Leven, capturing the wider landscape, wildlife and natural beauty of the area. The finished programme should showcase the stunning setting of the River Park alongside the passion and dedication of everyone involved in bringing the project to life.
We are incredibly proud to see the River Park featured on such a well-loved national programme, and are excited to share our story with audiences across the UK. We can’t wait to see what makes the final edit and to celebrate the achievements of the project, the local community and all of the partners involved.
Be sure to tune in to BBC Countryfile this Sunday, 17th May at 6.15pm on BBC 2.
